Photojournalism Ethics
Should a photojournalists ethics be absolute or situational? Why?
A photojournalists ethics should be situational because for every case its a different situation.
Can a photo really capture truth? Why or why not?
A photo can capture the truth because its a moment in time that was frozen. It can be changed by the way people people feel about it.
What decisions have you made as a photographer that "edit" reality? Explain.
I have made some changes to photo's but it doesnt change the story that the photo is telling it just changes little things.
Why is it important that news organizations have clearly defined ethical standards?
Its important because everyone needs to know the standards that they need to follow.
Fashion Ethics
List the changes that were made to the model's face in the computer. (Look carefully)
In some way it did plastic surgery, they fixed her face by altering different parts of it.
In your opinion, explain if you think it is ethically ok to change a person's appearance like this in a photo. No its not ok because they are fixing just imperfections on the face but it changes the story completly. She goes from being a average person, to being a perfect looking one just because of the alterations.
Under what circumstances is it worse than others?
Its ok change little imperfections but not to completly transform the person.
What types of changes are ok, and what aren't?
Acne is ok to change, but not actually features of a person.
Explain what you think the differences are between fashion photography and photojournalism.
Fashion photography focuses on making the image perfect, altering anything to get there, and photojournalism tells the truth through the photo.
What relationship does each have to reality, and how does this affect the ethics of each.
Photojournalism is showing reality, and Fashion photography alters reality to make it look beautiful. Photojournalism follows the ethics of keeping the photograph true, Fashion photography changes the ethics to go along with what looks best.

Photo Manipulation
Ethics Intro
In University of Wisconsin-Madison a person of african-american origin was inserted into the application of the school. I think this was wrong because the school should be able to present themselves as correctly as possible. Especially considering that its on an application, people get an idea of the school by looking at all the pictures.

Sugar Hill
A. What skills in addition to photography did Melanie Burford utilize to produce this slideshow?
Social skills: Melanie had to connect with the people of that town and the families in order to be allowed to go into their lives and take the pictures.
B. What was the effect (added power or meaning) of the multimedia effects of the slideshow.
The way the song and the photos fit together sends a very powerful message to those who are watching it.
What is the most interesting multimedia effect?
I liked the map its an interesting way of showing the lives and actions of some of the people who live there. Next to that the police videos were intresting, they gave you an inside look on some of the things that go on.

After printing post
When we first got into the room we cleaned the negatives of water spots by putting them in some chemicals, and drying them with special paper. We then chose the picture we were enlarging and sliped the negatives into the enlarger. We focused the image and set the aperture by tuning knobs and looking at the picture through a magnifying thing. After we made a test strip to see how long it would take for our picture to come out good, and finally we made the final print.

Our negatives
All of my negatives have water spots, which is
water drops that dried up.
Numbers 18 and 19 have have fingerprints.
#17 is one of my best ones becuase it shows 3
different people showing their expressions
#18 is another one of my best because it
shows a persons face expression.
Both numbers 17 and 18 fill the frame.

my first critique
This is a good picture because it takes up the whole frame.
This Picture has too much empty space.
Its also almost a front view of the person.
